Australians, Afghans evacuated from Kabul arrive in Perth

Around 100 people evacuated from Afghanistan, says Prime Minister Scott Morrison

MELBOURNE, Australia (AA) - Around 100 Australian citizens and Afghan visa holders who were evacuated from Kabul, Afghanistan landed in Perth, Australia early Friday.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a statement that those evacuated will enter two weeks of quarantine due to coronavirus measures and the government will work on providing "everything they need.”

Australian customs and immigration staff, consular and foreign service officers, and Afghan translators and contractors assisting the Australian Defense Force were among those evacuated.

Two military aircraft and 250 soldiers belonging to Australia are working on the evacuations.
