MEXICO CITY(AA) - Immigration authorities and the National Guard rescued 175 migrants Friday, including 30 who were underage, traveling inside a truck in Chiapas de Corzo in southern Mexico.

Officials said the migrants came mainly from Chiapas de Corzo in Chiapas, a border state with Guatemala and a hotspot for migrants from Central and South America.

The National Institute of Migration reported migrants from Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Pakistan, including 30 underage travelers, were in the truck.

The rescue follows the end of Title 42 in the US -- a coronavirus pandemic-era health policy that allowed American authorities to deport migrants. Mexican authorities have allocated resources to control migration flows from Latin America into Mexico.

With the end of Title 42, the US has implemented policies to ensure an orderly immigration flow.

Although Mexican authorities have reported a drop in the number of migrants traveling from the southern border, immigrant abductions have been reported at Mexico's borders.

Authorities announced the recovery of 113 migrants in northern Mexico in the state of Sonora on May 7.

On May 18, authorities managed to rescue 50 migrants in San Luis Potosi, who were kidnapped while traveling on a bus from Tapachulas, Chiapas to Nuevo Leon in northern Mexico.
