Azerbaijan marks centenary of diplomatic mission

Documentary film 'Lifelong mission' screened in capital Ankara at premiere

ANKARA (AA) - Azerbaijan's Embassy in Turkey organized Thursday a premiere night to mark the centennial anniversary of Azerbaijan's diplomatic service.

A documentary film named "Lifelong mission" was screened at the Cer Modern arts center in the capital Ankara.

The film shows the uphill struggle of the Azerbaijani delegation who was sent to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 to secure Azerbaijan's independence and territories.

The film narrates the founding fathers' efforts to ensure the recognition of Azerbaijan by the world after the declaration of independence on May 28, 1918.

Azerbaijan first gained its independence in 1918 which lasted 23 months.

The country regained its independence in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Among the attendees of the event were Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Turkey Khazar Ibrahim, business people, artists, bureaucrats and politicians.

The event is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Baku Media Center and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
