Bahraini monarch arrives in Morocco for ‘private visit’

Media provides little detail about king’s itinerary, including length of stay in Morocco

RABAT (AA) - Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa arrived in Moroccan capital Rabat on Thursday for a “private visit”, Morocco’s official MAP news agency reported.

According to the news agency, King Hamad arrived at the Rabat-Salé Airport, where he was received by a host of Moroccan officials, including Prince Moulay Rachid, the youngest son of the late King Hassan II (father of Morocco’s current king, Mohammed VI).

MAP did not provide any additional details regarding King Hamad’s itinerary, including the expected length of his stay in Morocco, which is considered a favored New Year’s destination for many political leaders and royal personages.

The Bahraini king paid a similar visit to Rabat in August.
