Bangsamoro govt launches web portal on financial deals

JAKARTA (AA) - The newly-formed Bangsamoro government has launched an online portal, detailing its financial operation and transactions from budgeting to income expenditure, Philippine media reported on Sunday.

According to Business Mirror, a daily, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) said the portal is designed to make it possible for constituents to understand government financial transactions and how the local government budget is spent and managed.

In its statement, BARMM stated that this program is based on the national government’s ''full disclosure policy''.

“This is in line with our policy of moral governance and transparency of all the activities and also the transparency in handling financial matters and other related activities,” the daily quoted Murad Ebrahim, chief minister of BARMM, as saying.

The government said the portal provides a full disclosure budget, finances, bids and public offerings of local government units (LGU).

"The summary of income and expenditures as well as the budget process of participation from the civil society is also part of the postings in the portal," it added.

Ebrahim underlined that all LGUs were mandated to comply with the policies of the program.

“We are imposing this and enforcing them to comply with it because it is provided under the law,” he said.

According to the Philippines Information Agency, Bangsamoro government has the authority to regulate the affairs of its constituents over the transactions of the LGUs as provided by the Bangsamoro Organic Law or Republic Act 11054.
