Barcelona announce Dembele underwent thigh surgery
22-year-old French star to be out for 6 months

ANKARA (AA) - Spanish football club Barcelona said Tuesday that French forward Ousmane Dembele will be out for approximately six months for thigh surgery.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, Dembele, 22, underwent surgery in Finland for "a ruptured tendon in his proximal hamstring in his right thigh."
"The Frenchman will be out for around 6 months," Barcelona said.
Barcelona signed Dembele from Germany's Borussia Dortmund for €125 million, or $149.1 million in August 2017.
He scored 19 goals and had 17 assists in 74 appearances for Barcelona.
Dembele's contract will expire June 30, 2022.
