ANKARA (AA) - DeMarcus Cousins will join the reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors in the upcoming 2018-19 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of sports outlet ESPN announced early Tuesday.
In a shared Twitter post, Wojnarowski said All-Star Cousins agreed to $5.3 million for a one-year deal with the Warriors.
Having lost JaVale McGee to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency, the Warriors closed the center position gap with Cousins, who is seen as one of the league's best big men.
The Warriors' Stephen Curry also took to social media to show his excitement about the deal, writing with a row of smiley-face emojis: "The 3rd Splash Brother. Let’s go @boogiecousins,"
With the deal, the Warriors, who already boast four All-Stars in their roster -- Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Finals Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant -- became a bigger threat to the rest of the league.
Meanwhile, the Lakers continue to fill up their roster with Rajon Rondo, another renowned point guard.
Former NBA champions Rondo will get $9 million for a one-year deal, local reports said.
The Lakers made the biggest move of the season by adding superstar LeBron James to its roster on a four-year, $154 million deal.
