Basketball: US beat Czech Republic in World Cup

US beat Czech Republic 88-67 in 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Group E game in Shanghai

ANKARA (AA) - The U.S. beat Czech Republic, 88-67 in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Group E game in Shanghai on Sunday.

The U.S. will now face Turkey in the next game on Tuesday.

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell was the key player for the U.S., scoring 16 points. Additionally Harrison Barnes produced 14 points for the U.S.

Team USA star Kemba Walker -- the Charlotte Hornets point guard -- tallied 13 points against Czech Republic.

Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum scored 10 points for the U.S.

The top scorer of this match was Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky, producing 17 points. Czech forwards Vojtech Hruban and Jaromir Bohacik scored 13 points each, but they could not avoid the loss.

The defending World Cup winner, the Team USA made a good start to the China 2019.

The U.S. are in the same group as Turkey, Japan, and the Czech Republic.

The tournament is set to last through Sept. 15, bringing a record 32 countries together to compete the title.
