Belarus reduces number of Ukrainian diplomats in country

MINSK, Belarus (AA) - Belarus announced on Wednesday that it would expel some of the Ukrainian diplomats serving in the country,

Accusing Ukraine of taking unfriendly actions against Belarus since 2020, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anatoly Glaz said Ukrainian authorities were interfering in the country's internal affairs.

In a statement, Glaz noted that Ukraine had suspended contacts with Belarus and named it an enemy country as of last year.

He added that Belarus's decision to reduce Ukrainian diplomats in the country aimed to stop non-diplomatic activities by some of Ukraine's staff.

The diplomats were asked to leave the country within 72 hours.

Glaz added that Belarus also decided to close the Ukrainian Consulate in Brest due to a lack of personnel.
