Biden losing most ground with younger Americans: Poll

WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Joe Biden is losing ground among generations of younger Americans, according to a poll released Thursday.

Gallup found that among all age groups the president is losing support most acutely among Millennials and Gen Zers with Biden down about 20 points with those groups since high levels of approval were recorded early in his presidency.

Generation Z and Millennials dropped in support of the president by 21 and 19 points, respectively. Generation Z now supports the president at about 39% compared to 41% of Millennials.

The decline stands in stark contrast to the relatively stable levels of support Biden has received from Baby Boomers and those born before 1946, commonly referred to as traditionalists. Traditionalists have not wavered in their level of support, remaining at 48% since the start of Biden's presidency.

Among Baby Boomers, however, there was a comparatively modest seven-point decline to 46%.

Biden continues to fare well among younger generations of Independents with approval hitting 52% and 53% among Generation Z and Millennials, respectively.

The numbers dip slightly to 45% among Generation X Independents and decline dramatically from there among older age groups.

Republicans, regardless of age group, have held steady in their strong levels of disapproval of the president.

Among racial groups, Biden has seen declines among Black, Latino and non-Latino white groups with the largest decline, 21 points, recorded among Latinos.
