MAROUA, Cameroon (AA) - Two civilians were killed, three soldiers injured and 100 houses were set on fire early Tuesday when Boko Haram fighters raided a village in Cameroon's Far North Region, a senior military official told Anadolu Agency.
The attack took place in Limani village near the Nigerian border, Col. Bouba Dobekreo, commander of a regional joint force said.
The soldiers were patrolling between the villages of Wambeche and Limani when a mine planted by Boko Haram militants exploded, Dobekreo added.
Less than two weeks ago Boko Haram raided a village in the same region, killing three villagers and setting fire to more than 50 houses.
The insurgent group has been waging a war against Nigeria and neighboring states that has seen at least 20,000 people killed and 2.7 million displaced over the last seven years.
