AFRIN/AZEZ, Syria (AA) - A bomb planted by YPG/PKK terrorists exploded inside a house in Afrin, northwestern Syria, on Monday leaving a family of six trapped under the debris.

According to Anadolu Agency correspondents on the ground, the family had returned to their home after the Turkish troops and Free Syrian Army (FSA) liberated Afrin town center from terrorists.

Turkey-backed forces are conducting a security sweep for mines, improvised explosive devices, and terrorist hideouts.

A woman was killed and a child was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Special units are trying to recover other family members trapped under the debris.

Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch on Jan. 20 to clear terrorist groups from Afrin amid growing threats from the region.

On March 18, Turkish-backed troops liberated the town center of Afrin, which had been a major hideout for the YPG/PKK since 2012.
