NINEVEH, Iraq (AA) – Three policemen were killed in a bomb blast in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul on Wednesday, according to a local police officer.
An improvised device exploded at a federal policy convoy in Hakna village, west of Mosul, Capt. Saad al-Jabouri told Anadolu Agency.
He said another policeman was seriously injured in the attack.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt for the attackers, al-Jabouri said.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack, but Iraqi officials often blame the Daesh terrorist group for the violence.
Last week, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced that the war against Daesh was over, saying that Iraq’s border with Syria had been completely secured.
Daesh has recently suffered a string of defeats in Iraq and Syria after overrunning much of both countries in mid-2014.
