Bomb blasts kill 3 in Iraqi capital
Devastating bombings have become commonplace in Iraqi capital
By Amer al-Hasani
BAGHDAD (AA) - Three people were killed in bomb attacks Sunday in Iraqi capital Baghdad, according to a local police officer.
A bomb exploded near a marketplace in southern Baghdad, killing two people and injuring four others, police captain Nazhan al-Khedr told Anadolu Agency.
He said a number of nearby shops and cars were damaged in the explosion.
Meanwhile, a policeman was killed when a bomb exploded under his car in western Baghdad, al-Khedr said.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attacks.
In recent months, devastating bombings -- often featuring explosive-laden vehicles -- have become commonplace in Iraq’s violence-prone capital.
The Iraqi authorities typically blame such attacks, which frequently target civilian areas, on the Daesh terrorist group, which captured large swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq in 2014.
