BAGHDAD (AA) – Two tribal fighters were killed in a bombing in western Iraq on Sunday, according to an Iraqi military officer.
"A booby-trapped house blew up during a crackdown operation by tribal fighters” in Rawa city in the Anbar province, Colonel Walid al-Dulaimi told Anadolu Agency.
He said another tribal fighter was injured in the attack.
Al-Dulaimi said army forces were trying to clear mines planted by Daesh militants in the district.
Meanwhile, Army Captain Rajab al-Saidi said forces of the pro-government Hashd al-Shaabi militia had been dispatched to Rawa city from Mosul’s Rabia and Zammar districts.
“The dispatch aims at supporting security forces in the ongoing offensive to recapture remaining Daesh-held areas in Anbar,” he said.
On Friday, the Iraqi army – with the help of a U.S.-led air coalition -- managed to recapture Rawa from the Daesh terrorist group.
