Borsa Istanbul down at Friday open

BIST 100 index falls over 43 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,444.53 points on Friday, down 2.93% or 43.68 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 1,488.21 points, with a daily trading volume of 30.09 billion Turkish liras ($4.18 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.4400 from 7.2240 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 9.0400 from 8.8220, while one British pound traded for 10.3800 on Friday, versus 10.2460 at Thursday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.37 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
