Borsa Istanbul down at midweek’s open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 4,925.54 points on Wednesday, down 0.74%, or 36.93 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 0.8% to hit an all-time closing peak of 4,962.48 points on Tuesday, with a daily trading volume of 107.5 billion Turkish liras ($5.76 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 18.6390 as of 10.15 a.m. local time (0715GMT), the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 19.2990, while a British pound traded for 22.3150 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $84.7 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,752.30.
