Borsa Istanbul down at Tuesday's open

BIST 100 index loses around 14 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened on Tuesday at 1,446.85 points, decreasing 0.96% or 14.05 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up by 1.36% at 1,460.90 points, with a daily trading volume of 18.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.20 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.3200 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, from 8.2580 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped rapidly to 10.1200, versus 10.5010, while one British pound traded for 11.7700 Turkish liras, up from 11.7080.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $67.80 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).

The stock exchange will trade for a half-day on Wednesday due to the Eid al-Fitr festival marking the end of the Muslim holy month Ramadan. Markets will also be closed on Thursday and Friday.
