Borsa Istanbul starts Tuesday exceeding 1,500-pts

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the day at 1,501.17 points up 0.55% or 8.24 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up by 0.88% to 1,492.93 points, with a daily trading volume of 14.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 9.6010 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 9.5860 at Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 11.1450, compared to 11.1250, while one British pound traded for 13.2130 Turkish liras, down from 13.2320.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $85.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
