Borsa Istanbul stocks down at open

BIST 100 index falls by 0.25 pct compared to Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index dropped 0.25 percent or 259.72 points to open at 103,933.61 points Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.90 percent to close the day at 104,193.33 points with a daily trading volume of 6.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.3840 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Monday's closing rate of 5.3770.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also remained unchanged at 6.1020, versus the last close.

One British pound traded for 7.1030 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.1190 at market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil was $65.40 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday.
