Borsa Istanbul stocks flat at open

BIST 100 index rises slightly by nearly 55 points over Thursday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose slightly by 0.05 percent or 54.65 points to open at 102,337.33 points Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 1.13 percent to close the day at 102,282.68 points with a daily trading volume of 7.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.4630 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 5.4370 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate remained unchanged at 6.1280 over the last close.

One British pound traded for 7.1720 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.1540 at market close Thursday.

The price of Brent oil was around $65.70 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday.
