BIST 100 index rises 0.28 pct versus Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.28 percent or 295.50 points to open at 104,026.09 points on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.44 percent to close the day at 103,730.59 points with a daily trading volume of 9.49 billion Turkish liras ($1.76 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.3880 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 5.3830 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 6.0890, versus 6.1010 at the last close.

One British pound traded for 7.0940 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.0820 at market close on Tuesday.

The price of Brent oil was around $65.50 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Wednesday.
