BIST 100 index climbs by nearly 100 points versus Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index increased 0.10 percent or 99.76 points to open at 101,820.81 points on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.86 percent to close the day at 101,721.05 points with a daily trading volume of 6.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.14 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.4630 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Tuesday's closing rate of 5.4590.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 6.1680, versus 6.1590 at the last close.

One British pound traded for 7.1680 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.1880 at market close on Tuesday.

The price of Brent oil was around $67.00 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Wednesday.
