Borsa Istanbul up 0.48% at open

BIST 100 index gains around 5.3 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,119.48 points on Thursday, up 0.48% or 5.30 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.37% at 1,114.18 points with a daily trading volume of 23.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.3170 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 7.3030 at previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.6540 versus 8.5980 while British pound traded for 9.5630 Turkish liras, up slightly from 9.5610.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $45.25 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
