Borsa Istanbul up 0.78% at Thursday's opening

BIST 100 index gains around 8.5 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,107.55 points on Thursday, rising 0.78% or 8.53 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.63% at 1,099.02 points, with a daily trading volume of 16.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.3720 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.3810 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 8.7230 from 8.7210, while one British pound traded for 9.7710 Turkish liras, down slightly from 9.7810.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $46.15 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
