Borsa Istanbul up 0.94% at Friday's opening session

BIST 100 index rises over 1,150 points at opening session versus Thursday's close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock exchange Borsa Istanbul increased by 0.94% or 1,153.46 points to open the last day of the week on 123,963.69 points.

On Thursday, the BIST 100 index fell by 0.17% to close the day at 122,540.22 points with 11.7 billion Turkish liras (nearly $2 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9340 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, unchanged from the previous close.

The Euro/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 6.5560, versus 6.5790, while one British pound was traded for 7.8090 Turkish liras. It was 7.8040 at Thursday's close.

The price of a one barrel Brent oil was around $62.36 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
