Borsa Istanbul up at Friday's open

BIST 100 index gains nearly 2 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 1,433.60 points, up 0.13% or 1.82 points from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.27% to 1,431.78 points, with a daily trading volume of more than 16.8 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 8.5400 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).

One euro traded for 10.1080 Turkish liras, versus 10.1200 at Thursday's close, while the British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 11.8900, up from 11.8800.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $71.81 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
