Borsa Istanbul up at Friday's opening session

BIST 100 index earns around 4.5 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,184.97 points on Friday, increasing 0.38% or 4.54 points from the previous close.

At the previous close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.74% at 1,180.43 points, with a daily trading volume of 21.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.9440 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.9450 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 9.2920 from 9.3020, while one British pound traded for 10.2600 Turkish liras, down from 10.3100.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.6 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
