Borsa Istanbul up at open

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,200.38 points on Friday, increasing 0.17% or 2.06 points from the previous close.

At the previous close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 1.09% at 1,198.32 points with a daily trading volume of 25.18 billion Turkish liras ($3.22 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.9450 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.9240 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also stood at 9.3730 from 9.3750, while one British pound traded for 10.3730 Turkish liras, down from 10.3950.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
