Borsa Istanbul up at opening

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, gained 0.44 percent or 457.53 points to open at 104,458.73 points on Friday.

The banking and holding sectors indices were up 0.45 percent and 0.46 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the sports sector index was the best performer, rising 0.84 percent, while the mining sector index lost 0.11 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was down to 3,4980 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared with 3.5080 at Thursday’s close.

The market closed at 104,001.20 points on Thursday after falling 1.26 percent during the day with a total trade volume of 4.1 million Turkish liras ($1.17 billion).
