BIST 100 index rises 0.46 pct while US dollar/Turkish lira rate climbs to 3.6720

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 started the day up 0.46 percent, reaching 107,484.62 points on Wednesday.

Turkey's BIST 100 index climbed 493.75 points while the banking and holding sector indices increased 0.46 percent and 0.35 percent, respectively.

All sectors gained value while the sports index was the best performer, rising 1.47 percent.

The BIST 100 rose 0.49 percent, or 516.41 points, to close at 106,990.87 points on Tuesday with a trading volume of 5.1 billion Turkish liras (around $1.39 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 3.6720 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared with 3.6670 at Tuesday’s close.
