Borsa Istanbul up at opening session

BIST 100 index earns around 2.13 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,213.64 points on Thursday, up 0.18% or 2.13 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.09% to 1,211.51 points, with a daily trading volume of 21.3 billion billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.8240 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), down from 7.8320 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 9.2830 from 9.2940, while one British pound traded for 10.3090 Turkish liras, down from 10.3280.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $41.80 as of 10:20 a.m. local time (0720GMT).
