Borsa Istanbul up at opening session

BIST 100 index gains around 1.8 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,558.33 points on Friday, rising 0.12% or 1.84 points from the previous close.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.54% at 1,556.49 points, with a daily trading volume of 27.94 billion Turkish liras ($3.74 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.5300 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.5420 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was also down to 9.0000, versus 9.0230, while one British pound traded for 10.5200 Turkish liras, down from 10.5520 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $69.20 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
