Borsa Istanbul up at opening session

BIST 100 index gains some 2.4 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,440.67 points on Tuesday, up 0.17% or 2.39 points from the previous close.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.03% to 1,438.28 points, with a daily trading volume of 11.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.37 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 8.4280 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.4340 on Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was slightly up to 9.9640, compared to 9.9580, while one British pound traded for 11.6790 Turkish liras, down from 11.6880.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $74 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
