Borsa Istanbul up at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 2,479 points on Friday, up 0.15% or 3.59 points from its previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.61% to close at 2,475.41 points on Thursday, hitting a new record-high close, with a daily trade volume of 44.7 billion Turkish liras ($3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 14.6330 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT), up from 14.6310 at Thursday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate rose to 15.8120 from 15.7650, while the British pound traded for 19.1086 Turkish liras, down from 19.1320 at the previous close.

Brent crude oil was sold for around $111.2 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,972.5.
