Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,578.03 points on Thursday, up 0.55% or 8.68 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.28% to close at an all-time high of 1,569.35 on Wednesday, with a daily trading volume of 29.9 billion Turkish liras ($4.01 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.4100 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 7.4460 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 8.9900 from 9.0120, while one British pound traded for 10.1800 Turkish liras, down from 10.2040.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $56 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
