Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday's open

BIST 100 index gains over 9 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,370.52 points on Thursday, up 0.72% or 9.77 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 0.09% to close Wednesday at 1,360.75 points, with a daily trading volume of more than 10.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.21 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 8.5239 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, from 8.5660 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 10.1136, versus 10.0970, while one British pound traded for 11.8755 Turkish liras, falling from 11.9200.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for $74.17 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
