Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday's opening

BIST 100 index gains almost 2 points from previous close

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,085.88 points on Thursday, rising 0.18% or 1.97 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.12% at 1,083.91 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 7.3940 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 7.3870 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 8.7260 from 8.7400, while one British pound traded for 9.8480 Turkish liras, down from 9.8820.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $44.25 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
