ANKARA (AA) - The police on late Tuesday has shut down a factory in the southern Santa Catarina state of Brazil that produced fake luxury cars.
Selling fake Ferraris and Lamborghinis via the social media at very low prices compared to the original value, the faker father and son were arrested on industrial property charges, according to reports in the Brazilian media.
Police said they were offering the cars for $45,000 to $60,000, many folds cheaper than the value of a genuine.
Officials distributed photos from the small factory showing bodies of cars emblazoned with the logo of Italian brands.
The raids on Monday came after patent complaints by the Italian companies.
Police confiscated eight vehicles during the raid, and said more investigation is underway.
