Bulgarian baby born with COVID-19 antibodies

ANKARA (AA) – A baby in Bulgaria was born with novel coronavirus antibodies as the mother contracted the virus in the seventh month of her pregnancy, local media reported.

A 28-year-old woman with COVID-19 from the southern city of Pazardzhik had to give birth by caesarean section as COVID-19 caused changes in the placenta and slowed the fetus’ growth, Radio Bulgaria reported on Monday.

The baby was born weighing 2.75 kilograms (six pounds) and measuring 46 centimeters long (18.11 inches) and was in good health, according to doctors.

Bulgaria on Tuesday reported 570 new COVID-19 cases, bringing its tally to 212,383.

Some 82 people died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, and the death toll in the country reached 8,565.

Bulgaria also reported that a total of 19,683 people have so far been vaccinated for the virus.
