ISTANBUL (AA) - Canada posted a trade surplus of around $972 million in March, according to the country’s statistical body on Thursday.
The figure in February was revised to a $487 million deficit, Statistics Canada said in a statement.
Total exports decreased 0.7% in March to $63.6 billion, marking the lowest level since February 2022.
In March, total imports declined 2.9% to $62.6 billion -- lowest since March 2022.
Imports of consumer goods decreased the most in March with a decline of 11.0, mainly because of lower imports of pharmaceutical products that plummeted 31.8%.
Exports of energy products decreased by 5.9% in March, mainly because of lower crude oil exports, which recorded a decline of 8.6%.
"While this was mostly the result of lower prices, crude oil export volumes also decreased in March," the statement said.
