Car-bomb, airstrikes kill 10 in war-torn Yemen

SANAA (AA) - At least ten people were killed in a car bombing and Saudi-led airstrikes in war-torn Yemen on Tuesday.

The car-bomb targeted a sports and cultural club in the Houthi-ruled town of Radaa in the central Baydaa province, according to the pro-Houthi Ansarullah news portal.

Local residents say the blast left two Houthi rebels dead. A child was seriously injured and later succumbed to her wounds.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, seven Houthi rebels were killed in three Saudi-led airstrikes in the southern Shabwah province.

The planes struck several Houthi military convoys in Bijan village in the province, a local official, who preferred to be unammed for security reasons, said.

Yemen has been wracked by chaos since 2014, when the Houthis and allied forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh overran capital Sanaa and other parts of the country.

The conflict escalated in 2015 when Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched an extensive air campaign aimed at reversing Houthi military gains and shoring up Yemen’s Saudi-backed government.
