Alvaro Morata inks deal with Spanish club for 18 months

ANKARA (AA) - Atletico Madrid loaned Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata for the remainder of this season and next year, the Spanish team said Monday.

Atletico Madrid said the 26-year-old striker signed the contract Monday after passing his medical tests Sunday.

"I'm very happy and proud to be here. I can't wait to start training, meet my new teammates and play," Morata said.

Morata previously played for Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid and Italian heavyweights Juventus.

He won two UEFA Champions League titles in 2014 and 2017 while playing for Real Madrid.

Morata scored five goals in 16 English Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season.
