Communications Directorate to hold panel on Turkey's green development strategy at COP26

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's Communications Directorate will hold a panel on the country's green development strategy at the ongoing COP26 UN climate conference, it said on Monday.

The climate summit began in Glasgow, Scotland, on Sunday with new pledges expected to be announced in the fight against climate change.

The panel discussion, Turkey's Green Development Strategy: An Inclusive, Sustainable and Humanitarian Vision, will take place on Wednesday, according to a statement.

"Green development, climate crisis, sustainable development, zero waste, environmental protection, responsible production and consumption, environment-centered policies and Turkey's green development goals" are among the topics that will be discussed.

"We will take firm steps towards becoming a leading country in this field," Communications Director Fahrettin Altun said in the statement.

Altun said the green development revolution initiated under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accelerated with the recent ratification of Paris Agreement by the Turkish parliament.

The preparation of action plans has already begun for all state institutions, with "net-zero emission target" by 2053, he added.
