Coronavirus tally rises in Sudan, halts in Tunisia

Tunisia records zero infection from coronavirus for second day in a row

KHARTOUM, Sudan/TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) - Health authorities in Sudan reported more novel coronavirus deaths and cases on Tuesday, while Tunisia recorded zero infections for the second day in a row.

The Sudanese Health Ministry said four people had died from COVID-19 virus, bringing the nationwide death toll to 74.

According to the ministry, 161 fresh cases were registered, pushing the total to 1,526, including 161 recoveries.

Meanwhile, Tunisia's Health Ministry said late Monday that no coronavirus cases were recorded in the country for the second day in a row.

The total number of cases remained at 1,032, including 45 deaths and 727 recoveries, the ministry said.

After originating in China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 187 countries and regions. Europe and the US are currently the worst-hit regions.

The pandemic has killed over 286,600 worldwide, with total infections more than 4.19 million, while recoveries exceeded 1.46 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
