Coup attempt photo exhibit opens in London

LONDON (AA) – An exhibit of photos of the July 15 defeated coup bid by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) is getting considerable attention from both residents and tourists in the British capital.

The London exhibition, organized by the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD), features more than 40 Anadolu Agency photographs showing people’s resistance to the coup attempt.

Turhan Ozen, the head of UETD’s UK branch, told Anadolu Agency that July 15 saw a great calamity.

“Our people showed great heroism and blocked a huge disaster for Turkey; we are trying to tell the world about this big incident,” he said.

The exhibit is located very close to one of the city’s landmarks, the London Eye, which attracts droves of tourists. Ozen said the photos will be on show for five days.

Ozen said they have gotten a positive response from visitors.

“The photos had a greater effect than [just] words. These photos touch people’s hearts,” he added.

More than 240 people were martyred and in excess of 2,100 injured during the July 15 putsch attempt by the FETO terror organization.
