COVID-19: Palestine records 16 new deaths, 2,536 cases

Total number of coronavirus infections exceeds 101,000, while over 78,300 people recover so far

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Palestinian Health Ministry on Tuesday recorded 16 new fatalities related to the novel coronavirus and 2,536 cases in the past 24 hours.

The ministry said seven deaths were recorded in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, while nine were in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Tuesday's figures pushed total cases to 101,394, with 78,333 recoveries and 838 deaths.

Since first being detected in Wuhan, China in December, COVID-19 has claimed more than 1.47 million lives in 191 countries and regions.

More than 63.4 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 40.7 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
