COVID-19 recoveries top 75% in Bangladesh

36 fresh deaths in past 24 hours with lowest single-day infections in nearly 2 months

DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) - Bangladesh's COVID-19 recovery rate reached 75.10% on Saturday with some 1,753 fresh recoveries from the virus over the last 24 hours, according to government data.

The number of recoveries now stands at 268,777, said the Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

Meanwhile, the south Asian country registered more than 36 deaths from coronavirus with 1,106 fresh infections, the lowest single-day infections since Aug. 2.

Total deaths reached 5,129, with a 1.43% death rate taking the total coronavirus cases to 357,873, the ministry added.

To date a total 3,974 men (77.48%) and 1,155 women (22.52%) have died of coronavirus across the country, it said.

The government tested some 10,680 COVID-19 samples in the past hours, and the country of some 165 million has tested a total of about 1.89 million samples so far.
