Czech forward Schick extends deal with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027

Schick scored 24 goals to be 2nd in 2021-22 German Bundesliga top scorers list

ANKARA (AA) - Bayer Leverkusen's Czech forward Patrik Schick renewed his contract at the German football club until 2027.

"I extended my contract until 2027 so really happy that I can continue in Bayer," Schick, 26, said in a video posted by Bayer Leverkusen.

Schick scored 24 goals to come second in the 2021-22 German Bundesliga top scorers list.

German champions Bayern Munich's Polish star Robert Lewandowski scored 35 league goals to be this season's top scorer in Germany.

Schick left Roma in 2020 to join Bayer Leverkusen, where he scored 37 goals in 67 matches for the German club.

Bayer Leverkusen finished the season in the third spot to secure a berth in the UEFA Champions League next season.

He was the UEFA EURO 2020 joint-top scorer with the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Both players scored five goals each in the latest European football championship.
