By Hussein al-Amir
BAGHDAD (AA) - Daesh militants attacked the offices of a government-run company in eastern Iraq on Wednesday and abducted six employees, according to a local police officer.
About a dozen gunmen attacked the headquarters of the Hammurabi Company in the northeastern Diyala province and set fire to equipment, Police Captain Habib al-Shemari told Anadolu Agency.
"Six company employees were then abducted at gunpoint," al-Shemari said, adding that the gunmen were from the Daesh terrorist group.
According to the police officer, Iraqi security forces are now searching for the attackers.
Daesh is currently the target of a wide-ranging Iraqi army offensive aimed at retaking the northern city of Mosul, which the terrorist group overran in mid-2014.
